What VisibAI actually checks

Every factor below is drawn from published 2026 research on generative engine optimization. No black box, no invented metrics.

🤖

AI crawler access

If your robots.txt blocks OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot or PerplexityBot — even accidentally — you are removed from AI answers entirely. This check is binary: fail it and nothing else matters.

Schema.org

Organization, FAQPage, Article, LocalBusiness and Review markup remove parsing ambiguity and reinforce your entity. Studies show structured data can lift AI task performance from 16% to 54%.

❓

FAQ page

FAQPage content gets pulled directly into chat answers as Q&A. A dedicated FAQ page is one of the highest-leverage afternoon fixes.

💬

Answer-first content

AI engines retrieve at passage level. Pages that open with a short, self-contained answer (2–4 sentences) get cited far more often than buried prose.

🔄

Freshness

RAG systems favor content published or updated within the last 6 months. Stale pages quietly lose retrieval odds.

Reviews & third-party trust

AI models weigh mentions on authoritative sources — Google reviews, Reddit, earned media. Brands cited across trusted platforms win.

Entity clarity

Identical name, address and phone everywhere — plus sameAs links and profiles — feeds accurate answers when the model doesn't browse.

Search indexation

ChatGPT's search layer is fed by the Bing index. Verified Search Console + Bing Webmaster Tools presence is table stakes.

llms.txt

A curated Markdown index of your most citable pages. Honest note: not a confirmed ranking factor — Google ignores it — but a free, harmless map for independent AI crawlers.

Honest answers

Does VisibAI query ChatGPT or Claude directly?

No — and be skeptical of any tool that claims to. No third-party tool can see inside ChatGPT's answers reliably. What we do instead: measure the technical signals that published 2026 research shows AI systems actually use when discovering, parsing, trusting and citing websites. That's measurable, repeatable, and honest.

Will a perfect score guarantee AI citations?

No. AI citation also depends on factors outside any site's control — model training data, third-party mentions, topical authority built over years. A high score means you've removed every technical blocker and maximized your odds. That's the honest version.

What is llms.txt, really?

A Markdown file at your domain root listing your most important pages for AI crawlers — like robots.txt, but as a curated map instead of access rules. Honest note: Google has said it ignores llms.txt, and studies show no measurable citation lift from the file alone. We score it at 5/100: free to add, harmless, potentially useful for independent crawlers.

Do I need to block GPTBot?

Only if you don't want your content used for model training. Blocking training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended) has no documented effect on AI search visibility. But never block the search crawlers — OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-SearchBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot — or you vanish from AI answers.
